pins and screws

5 day post-op appointment:
doc says that my progress is going well. my foot is still swollen. it was interesting to see all the blue/black sutures all over my foot/toes. here are xrays of my foot. right side shows the screws and pins inserted into my metatarsal bones. they're the bright little blots on the xray. two pins on my fifth metatarsal, one screw on my first metatarsal. my doctor told me about the surgery, how dense and hard my bone was (a good thing!), how a part of my bone that was cut off flew up and over the surgeons in the air, how my leg was twitching for the first 10 minutes of the surgery. all fun stuff.
