back to work....
so after 1 month of traveling asia, 1 month of dorking around california, 2 months of racking my brain trying to figure out what career path to take, and 3 weeks of doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the warming spring weather, i'm heading back to work at the job i just quit 5 months ago. doesn't make sense, right?
well, here's my argument:
*money - i need it, you need it, we all need it. 5 months of living off my savings was starting to hurt. i tried doing the service thing... wasn't me. i really didn't see any other option except to get back into what i knew how to do and what i knew was going to pay me enough to make rent and be somewhat comfortable. serving was hardly going to pay for even half my rent. and i wasn't too keen on trying out a different planning job since that would probably require more work and effort and brainpower (which i don't mind using if it's for a job that i actually enjoy doing). which led me to ponder over the benefits of going back to my old job.
*no brainer work - i won't be stressed out, only bored. the work is mindless, tedious, 'goon' work (as peter would put it). and i'm only really busy about one whole week out of the month so the rest of the time as i pretend to be working on my computer, i can be surfing the net for other possible career opportunities, sign up with the aspca, update myspace, check my 3 personal email accounts, aim and im my friends, etc. no really, i'll be doing more productive stuff during my downtime... hopefully.
*flexibility - my manager knows that i'm thinking of going to massage school sometime soon, so he's very supportive of me leaving early to attend classes, etc. it benefits him that i'm there to work since they can't find anyone to replace me. so i don't feel guilty for wanting another career or leaving the job later on b/c my intentions are out in the open and i'm not lying to anyone.
hopefully i'm not kidding myself...

Goon work. Sweet. You know, in the end, it's all goon work anyway.
